A comparison is made of a number of income averaging procedures on the basis of selected performance criteria. The main conclusion which emerges is that the Australian income averaging procedure, currently applied to primary producers, has a number of defects. Several of the alternative income averaging procedures reviewed are judged to be superior to the current Australian system. |

The systematic status of three nominal forms of the Colombian characid genus Nematobrycon is herein treated. All forms are illustrated and their interrelationships discussed. One species, Nematobrycon lacortei is described as new. Nematobrycon palmeri Eigenmann, a species from the northern headwaters of the Rio San Juan is compared with Nematobrycon amphiloxus Eigenmann & Wilson from the adjacent headwaters of the Rio Atrato. It is suggested that N. amphiloxus is probably a subspecies of N. palmeri. N. lacortei from the headwaters of the Rio Calima, a large southern tributary of the Rio San Juan, is considered specifically distinct from N. palmeri at the present time. Judgement on the systematic status of all forms of Nematobrycon must await collection... |

A NEW SPECIES OF SULCIA In 1962, Dresco described the first representative of the genus Sulcia from the Greek mainland, Sulcia lindbergi. Recently, Brignoli (1968a) considered this species a subspecies of Sulcia cretica Fage. The genus is also known from Dalmatia, Hercegovina, Montenegro, and some adjacent islands (Kratochvil, 1938) and from the Island of Crete (Fage, 1945). In January 1969, my husband P. R. Deeleman, had the opportunity to visit the Koutouki Cave near the village of Ljopessi (officially also called Peania), situated at approximately 20 km west of Athens. This visit was made possible by the assistance of Mrs. A. Petrochilos and Mr. A. Kanellis, to whom we feel very much obliged. In this cave a new species of Sulcia was collected. The cave... |

A key is given to 7 species, 6 of which occur in Malesia. Of each the basionyms and a restricted synonymy are given, besides notes on their distribution. Rotala diversifolia Koehne, hitherto only known from Thailand, appears to occur in several localities in Malesia. A new combination, R. catholica (Cham. & Schlechtend.) B. van Leeuwen, is proposed for the American R. dentifera (A. Gray) Koehne, introduced in Luzon. |

Laubier, Lucien. |
Among a small collection of Annelida Polychaeta collected in the Banyuls-sur-Mer area which I was sent to for identification by M. Amouroux (Arago Laboratory, 66-Banyuls-sur-Mer) were three specimens of a recently described species of Paraonidae from the Breton coast, Paradoneis armata Glémarec, 1967. Two years later, this species was found in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, on the Cretan coasts (Kalo-Limmiones) in the endofauna of a Halophila stipulacea prairie by Harmelin (1969), who described and figured the main distinctive characters of this Paraonidae (the reference to the original description is erroneous, Glémarec linking this specimen to the genus Paradoneis Hartman, 1965, and not to the genus Paraonides Cerruti sensu Hartman, 1965). The discovery... |

The type species of the genus Loricariichthys Bleeker, 1862, Loricariichthys maculatus (Bloch, 1794), is redescribed from two syntypes, one of which is designated the lectotype. The same specimen is also designated the neotype for Plecostomus cataphracta Gronovius (ed. Gray), 1854 (non Loricaria cataphracta Linnaeus, 1758, sensu stricto). The type locality of both nominal species is restricted after a comparison to specimens recently collected from a locality in Surinam. |
